Challenge
A major international player in the Pharma sector based in Italy, within a project to overhaul its treasury processes, expressed the need to converge the Group’s current Treasury workstation system, implemented on an SAP S/4HANA system in release 1709, within the Group’s main accounting system, implemented on an SAP S/4HANA in release 1809.
This has resulted in the achievement of a significant simplification of its SAP ecosystem both in terms of the number of systems to be managed and in terms of the interface flows to be monitored in daily operations.
Solution
With reference to the processes implemented in the Group Treasury workstation system, the application migration was broken down into the following functional area:
- Treasury Master Data
- Payment Processes
- Bank Accounting and Reconciliations
- In House Cash
- Cash and Liquidity Management
- Treasury & Risk Management
- Authorization processes
- Integration with Swift Alliance Lite2
- Financial Accounting and Planning
In the project approach proposed buy Qintesi, the first phase took the form of a preliminary reconnaissance of the processes implemented in the group treasury pertaining to the functional areas into which the project scope was decomposed, in order to ensure a “like for like” application migration: that is, the functionalities of the source system were re- implemented in the target system by applying only the standard adaptations required by the S/4 HANA release of the target system, preserving and improving the functional aspects and characteristics of the indicated processes.
Results
- Optimization and greater integration of Treasury processes with General Accounting processes through implementation in a single environment.
- Increased ease of use and improved scalability of the SAP ecosystem, resulting in reduced management costs by the Customer.
- Improved working capital management due to the automation of the customer reconciliation process ensured by managing bank flows in a single environment.
- Integrated reporting in a single Group SAP S/4HANA system and usable through SAP FIORI.
- Improved liquidity planning processes and short-term liquidity monitoring through the application of SAP Cash Flow Analyzer.
- Simplification of the Chart of Accounts with divestment of a number of technical accounts linking different systems.
