Challenge<\/h4>

An important international player in the <\/span>Pharma sector <\/b>based in Italy, within a project of revision and <\/span>optimization of its accounting processes<\/b>, expressed the need to refine and optimize as much as possible the Chart of Accounts and integrate the management of leasing contracts subject to <\/span>IFRS16<\/b>, within its <\/span>SAP S\/4HANA<\/b> management software, using the functionalities offered by the <\/span>RE-Fx<\/b> module.<\/span><\/p>

It was also necessary to define a single model applied to Headquarter and subsidiaries.<\/span><\/p>

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Solution<\/h4>

The project was segmented into two macro streams, one for the review of the Chart of Accounts and one for the implementation of the <\/span>Real Estate solution<\/b> to support <\/span>IFRS16<\/b> accounting standard.<\/span><\/p>

\u00a0<\/p>

In the first stream, with the objective of reducing the <\/span>Chart of Accounts<\/b> globally, the working group pursued the outcome through 3 distinct analysis approaches:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

  • Identification of accounts that could be removed\/combined regardless of the accounting standards used<\/span><\/li>
  • Identification of accounts that already existed within the “corporate” Chart of Accounts but were duplicated at the corporate level during the roll-out of subsidiaries<\/span><\/li>
  • Identification of accounts that could potentially be merged into a single accounting nature even if used for local principles<\/span><\/li><\/ul>

    The second stream, which aimed to adopt an <\/span>E2E solution<\/b> for lease management under IFRS16, achieved the following results:<\/span><\/p>

    \u00a0<\/p>

    • The divestment of the current tool based on the Microsoft Excel application<\/span><\/li>
    • The adoption of <\/span>direct entries in the financial statements<\/b>, following an analysis of current asset management<\/span><\/li>
    • The definition of a <\/span>single model applied to 16 different companies<\/b> in 12 countries with different applications of the principle<\/span><\/li>
    • The migration of the current database of leases in an automated manner<\/span><\/li>
    • The automatic recording of <\/span>IFRS16 valuations<\/b> and reclassification of debt accounts\u00a0<\/span><\/li>
    • The creation of ad hoc reporting (in addition to the SAP standard).<\/span><\/li>
    • \u00a0<\/li><\/ul>

      A system patching activity was also carried out during the project by implementing <\/span>SAP OSS Notes<\/b> in order to adapt the environment to the latest features for managing <\/span>IFRS16<\/b> functionality.<\/span><\/p>
